Moulin à Vent 2016
Clos des Michelons
The Lord of Beaujolais and also our main Cru on the estate
Price : 13 € Bottle
This Moulin à Vent is made using grapes from vineyards at La Rochelle and La Delatte. Both these plots, planted with traditional Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc, are just tens of metres from the famous windmill that give the Cru its name. La Rochelle is to its west, while La Delatte is to its east. The resulting assembly combines the mineral structure of La Rochelle with the fruitiness of La Delatte, making the wine round and suited to cellaring (7 to 8 years).
The grapes are picked by hand in Beaujolais tradition, just like vinification itself. The grapes remain in the vats for between 8 and 10 days to extract the maximum colours aromas and flavours. The wine is then matured in our vaulted cellars until it is bottled and ready to enjoy. This wine, in its lovely crimson robe, will seduce you with its incredibly refined aromas. They include nuances of rose petal, lilac, a few notes of violet and small black fruit. The palate is the epitome of finesse, with elegant, racy and harmonious tannins and delicious mineral flavours at the end.
Serve it at 16 or 17° C with slow-cooked poultry or game dishes or medium cheeses.
